Tibetan Aid Foundation Inc.

The Tibetan Aid Foundation, Inc (TAF) is a grassroots, non-political 501(c)(3) humanitarian organization based in Ojai, California. Its core mission is to support essential medical, healthcare, and educational services for indigenous communities in rural areas of the Tibetan Plateau and other Himalayan regions.
The foundation functions on a community-driven model, ensuring all development initiatives strictly originate from the expressed and articulated needs of the target communities themselves.

Major Project Areas

πŸ₯ Healthcare Initiatives
TAF funds physical clinics, emergency medical care, and specialized medical training to address severe shortages in remote areas:
ChaZhu Valley Clinic: TAF constructed, staffed, and continues to fund this facility, which provides low-cost or free basic medical care to over 3,000 rural residents.
Odiyana Health Project: In partnership with the Odiyana Institute, TAF supports the completion and operation of the Odiyana Clinic building in Ruskin, Arunachal Pradesh, India.

Targeted Individual Care: Direct funding programs for prenatal care, pediatric needs, emergency medicine, tuberculosis treatment, and cataract/vision surgeries.

🚰 Community Infrastructure & Sanitation
Recognizing that clean environments prevent medical crises, the foundation supports public health projects:
Fresh Water Programs: Installing infrastructure to provide clean drinking water to village clusters that previously relied on distant, open rivers.
Sanitation: Constructing household latrines and developing proper waste systems in rural hubs like the ChaZhu Valley.

πŸ“š Educational & Training Programs
TAF prioritizes long-term community independence through various training frameworks:
Student Scholarship Program: Providing comprehensive funding covering tuition, boarding, and related expenses for high school and college students in the Himalayan region.
Healthcare Practitioner Training: Financing the instruction of local workers in modern medical treatments, requiring students who receive vocational funds to return and work in their home villages.
Maternal Education & Hygiene: Promoting training modules for village women focusing on nutrition, family planning, and personal hygiene.

🍲 Nutritional Support
Monks’ Nutrition Project: Providing direct nutritional aid and funding to refugee communities, including a recent $2,500 grant to the monks of Drepung Monastery.
